The Largest BOQ Satellite Office in Northern Mindanao Opens at Robinsons Cagayan De Oro

Robinsons Malls, through its public service program Lingkod Pinoy Center, strengthens its partnership with the Bureau of Quarantine as the government agency opens its fourth satellite office at Robinsons Cagayan de Oro.

The opening of the Bureau of Quarantine's newest satellite office was graced by BOQ Station Chief Dr. Logencito Oran (second from left) and Robinsons Cagayan de Oro Housekeeping Supervisor Jessa Advincula, Mall Operations Officer Jinky Sotoniel, and Leasing Officer Maryjoy Galarpe.

An agency operating under the Department of Health, the BOQ’s role in safeguarding public health has gained greater prominence since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. The BOQ’s mandate, defined under Republic Act No. 9271 or the Quarantine Act of 2004, is to “ensure security against the introduction of and spread of infectious diseases, emerging diseases and public health emergencies of international concern.”

In observing this duty, the BOQ has full jurisdiction over the issuance of quarantine certificates, bills of health, and other equivalent documents required to prevent the introduction, transmission, or spread of these public health emergencies.

International Certificate of Vaccination processing has been made easy and accessible through the BOQ's satellite offices located in Robinsons Malls.

By hosting the agency’s satellite offices in selected malls, Robinsons Malls has made it easier for Overseas Filipino Workers, seafarers, and other individuals traveling abroad to access important BOQ services especially during the pandemic. This includes the processing of the International Certificate of Vaccination (ICV), also known as the “Yellow Card,” a certification recognized by member countries of the World Health Organization.

The ICV serves as an individual’s record of vaccinations required for travel abroad, although it is not mandatory and cannot be considered an “immunity passport.” In addition, not all countries require an ICV.

Persons applying for a BOQ-issued ICV are required to have been fully vaccinated in the Philippines. Qualified applicants should then log on to icv.boq.ph, accomplish the online registration, upload the documentary requirements (i.e., copies of their passport, valid ID, and vaccination card), and proceed to the BOQ satellite office on their appointment date with the original documents.

Conveniently accessible to a wide swath of communities in Northern Mindanao, the BOQ satellite office on the second level of Robinsons Cagayan de Oro targets the processing of at least 100 ICV applications daily. Apart from this brand-new location, the BOQ also has branches in Robinsons Place Manila, Robinsons Galleria Cebu and Robinsons Place Tacloban; offices in Robinsons Place Tuguegarao and Robinsons Galleria Ortigas are slated to open soon.
