RLC Frontliners Get a Boost from Life Cycles PH

The 65 donated bicycles provide staff with a viable way to get to work

From the onset of the enhanced community quarantine in mid-March, there have been countless stories of men and women who’ve demonstrated their dedication to their work and passion to serve their customers. Much like other companies in the Gokongwei Group, Robinsons Land Corporation has acknowledged the importance of these modern-day heroes who keep operations going. The real estate firm has gone the extra mile to extend assistance to these dedicated staff, helping to keep them safe and secure, and providing food and shelter to some staff who haven’t been able to return to their homes during the quarantine period. RLC has also sought various solutions—such as providing shuttles and car-pooling options—to ease concerns on the limited number of public transportation options.

Life Cycles PH, an organization created in response to the shutdown of public transportation during the COVID-19 pandemic, has also provided a solution to RLC service providers’ woes. Motivated by the slogan, “Sa ikaliligtas ng bayan, bisikleta ang kailangan,” Life Cycles PH helps source bicycles for the transportation needs of essential workers. Recently, it provided a generous donation of 65 bicycles to RLC, which was distributed to mall security guards, housekeeping personnel, and supermarket baggers and cashiers from Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Magnolia, and Forum Robinsons.

Besides providing the beneficiaries with an alternative, sustainable mode of transportation, the donated bicycles also offer multiple health benefits.

As a growing number of people realize the practicality of using bikes in the city, Life Cycles PH said it hopes that this will lead to a broader acceptance of cycling as a sustainable and accessible mode of transportation in Metro Manila and translate to the development of biking infrastructure such as bike lanes and bike parking around the city.
