SIA Engineering (Philippines) wins PMAP People Program of the Year for Luzon

The aircraft maintenance firm was recognized for its “360° Challenge” HR program

SIA Engineering (Philippines), a joint venture of SIA Engineering Ltd. and Cebu Pacific, was one of the big winners at the PMAP Awards for Luzon held recently. The Clark-based airline maintenance firm took home the People Program of the Year for Luzon, which automatically qualifies it for the national award this July, where it will compete against entries from Visayas and Mindanao.

The awards are the brainchild of the People Management Association of the Philippines, a professional, non-stock, non-profit organization of over 1,800 member companies and individual management executives engaged or interested in Human Resource Management (HRM) and Industrial Relations (IR) work.

Manansala, Manager, HR, Admin and Legal Department-SIAEP; Lucila C. Tarriela, PMAP Past Presisent; Louisa Mila V. Echevarria, PMAP Vice President.

First handed out in 1977, the awards are meant to recognize outstanding organizations and individuals that help advance the country’s people management profession. It currently has three categories: Employer of the Year, People Manager of the Year, and the People Program of the Year.

For the awards representing Luzon, there were 67 organizations competing in the three categories. Cited for its “360° Challenge,” SIAEP emerged victorious as the People Program of the Year, which PMAP presents to a company or organization with a “relevant, unique, innovative and/or cutting-edge program, which is designed to provide meaningful contribution and enhance or improve employer-employee relations or meet a specific need of the company or industry.”

According to Joyce Manansala, HR Administration and Legal Manager of SIAEP, the company named the program the 360° Challenge because it represents the "holistic approach of the company in ensuring a work-in-life balance of its employees through the HR-infused employee related activities,” which in turn lead to “culture building, career development, and nurturing diversity.”

Among the included programs in the “360° Challenge” are health and wellness lectures, town hall meetings, loyalty awards, safety programs, teambuilding sessions, leadership training, outreach and CSR activities, personal development courses, project management modules, and employee referral rewards programs, to name but a few.

With these in place, Manansala says, SIAEP can ensure “the existence of happy employees and the business’ growth.”

Congratulations, SIAEP!
