URC Employees & Their Families Bond through Baking at the Baker John Academy

A fun afternoon of baking was in store for the participating employees

Select URC employees and their families had an enjoyable bonding activity on June 15, 2019, at the recently opened Baker John Academy. Sandwiched between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, the five-hour afternoon baking session—billed as the Baker John Academy Baking Experience—was a chance for the employees to spend quality time with their families while trying out the company’s products and experiencing first-hand the baking academy’s facilities.

URC employees and their families enjoyed this unique bonding activity.

Fifteen parents from URC joined the event; along with their spouses and children, there were a total of 40 participants. A number of URC officers were also in attendance, including Gerry Magadia, Manufacturing Director; Nicanor Ines, Technology Director; and Gemma Tacata, HR Manager. Adding to the fun was the participation of the talented child actress and host Xia Vigor who joined several other children during the baking session.

Child actress Xia Vigor and her brother Liam were the event's special guests.

Vien-Ken-Mark Duazo and Mary Ann Ramirez from URC Flour and Pasta Division served as the event’s baking instructors. Duazon has four years’ experience as a lead baker, while Ramirez has three years’ experience as a pastry baker. Together, they taught the participants how to bake royal cookies, Dutch chocolate cupcakes, and chocolate drop cookies.

The Baking Experience received positive feedback from the participants, who hailed it as a fun and meaningful corporate bonding activity; more than a few are already waiting for the next one.
